Cirque D'Burque - A Musical Theatre Intensive

Come learn and have fun at this week long intensive. 
October 19th- 26th. Sat. Oct. 19 10 am - 12 pm. Sunday Oct 20-Thurs. Oct 24 5 pm - 8 pm. Performance Sat., Oct. 26 2:00 pm
Student ages 11-17 are welcome to sign up registration

Deadline: October 13th 

During this week students will learn music and choreography centered around a circus theme. Popular songs such as The Greatest Show, Circus by Britney Spears, Fun Home by Pink and a few others will be used as a focus. 

Hair, Makeup and Costumes will also be a part of this intensive. Students will help design concepts to add to the overall feel of the final performance.

Understanding the Finances of Your Non-Profit Arts Organization

Marty Epstein will offer ATG and TLC members expert advice on understanding the finances of non-profit arts organizations.

Marty is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant) and has an MBA. He is a retired instructor from CNM Community College where he taught accounting for 20 years. He has worked in the accounting/finance field in banking, manufacturing, construction as well as nonprofits. He serves on the board of a number of non-profit organizations including the Vortex Theatre (treasurer for much of 29 years) and 501CPA, a non-profit CPA firm that works uniquely with nonprofit organizations. Marty is an active theater participant and recognizes the importance for local theaters and their boards of directors to better understand and use their financial information to maintain stability as a theater and a nonprofit organization.

This ATG Event is free to ATG/TLC members.

First Sunday - Lysistrata: First Feminist Rebellion: Then and Now


Information: First Sundays are a deep dive into the themes, ideas and insights involved in the production of the play at the Vortex. For Lysistrata, The Vortex Theatre and the Albuquerque Center for Peace and Justice present a conversation about women striking for peace from Aristophanes' time to the present.

Maria de Buenos Aires Pre-Opera Seminar

Opera Southwest

Maria de Buenos Aires is truly unique in the opera repertory: a tango operetta. Join Maestro Barrese, Scenic Designer Valeria Rios-Giermakowski, and the stars of the show for a deep dive into the challenges and joys of bringing this work to life. Hosted by the Opera Southwest Guild, this two-hour event includes a panel discussion, Q&A with the artists, coffee and delicious breakfast treats and time to mingle with the Opera Southwest Community. These two-hour events are held on Saturday morning a week or so prior to the opening of each Opera Southwest production. The singers, musical and artistic staff and other opera professionals offer their perspectives on the opera, providing an in-depth view for a deeper understanding and enjoyment of the performance.

Call for Submissions: Playwrights Circle Staged Reading Festival

The Playwrights Circle will present the 3rd Annual Staged Reading

Festival for all playwrights who are current members of the Albuquerque

Theatre Guild. The Festival will be held at The Adobe Theater, Friday, May

17, 7:30 pm; Saturday, May 18, 7:30 pm, and Sunday, May 19, 2:00 pm,


To join ATG: https://abqtheatreguild.org/join-us/. (Dues are $30/year.)

Blind judging: A panel of judges will read the plays without knowing the

names of the authors. Each play submitted will receive a short critique from

the judges.

Playwrights will be notified of their selection by March 20, 2019. Each play

read at the Festival will be followed by a Q&A. Playwrights must be in

attendance at the Festival.


Deadline for submissions: Plays must be submitted beginning December

1, 2018, and received no later than January 31, 2019.

Length of play: 10 pages to full-length plays

Number of characters: Maximum of 8 characters

Number of submissions per playwright: Maximum of 2 plays (no more

than one play from each playwright will be presented at the Festival)

Format: All plays must be in a standard playscript format (sample


Title page: Title page to include only the title of the play.

Email: Include title of play, author, and contact information.

Word or PDF formats will be accepted.

No previously published or produced plays can be considered (including

public staged readings).

Submissions must be made electronically. Each play must be sent in a

separate email and sent to: playwrightscirclereadingfest@gmail.com.

We're making a presentation to the New Mexico Legislative Education Study Committee on "How Theatre Programs Apply Lessons from Every Discipline
